If you have listened to Arise Radio this morning, you've probably heard the new station identification "bumpers". Since Arise Radio is "officially" designated as WXAR-DB by the National Association of Digital Broadcasters, those call lette...rs have to be announced regularly over the station. The new WXAR station identifications are voiced by Nick Archer of Franklin, Tennessee. During the 1970s childhood of The Very Limited Brain Who Maintains Arise Radio, I loved Nashville's SM95 radio station which played a very eclectic mix of music. From 1976 - 1983, SM95 was the FM sister station to Nashville's legendary WSM-AM 650, the Grand Ole Opry station. However, SM95 was just as legendary as its AM sister station. In my opinion, SM95 remains the best radio station I ever listened to. SM95 was one of the influences on the design of Arise Radio. Nick Archer was one of the many great announcers on SM95. Currently, Nick Archer works at Archer Productions, http://archerproductions.com/, which produces radio commercials and provides many other professional audio services. Nick Archer is also heavily involved with the Tennessee Radio Hall of Fame. I am humbly grateful that one of my childhood heroes is the voice of the new WXAR station identifications.
